Life is short, and people are so consumed in worrying about themselves that the outcome of the world is being affected. Because of greed, jealousy, selfishness and a lack of empathy, people are dying because nobody can help them. If we lived in a world where people put other's needs before their own and they shared what they had to give, "then we'd see the day when nobody died".

The lyrics also go into his love with a girl, and how she makes him feel special and loved when nobody else can take the time to extend such feelings. The love that she gives him makes him grateful to be alive, and he realizes that if everybody was able to feel the same, the world would be a greater place. The two of them are able to carve their own little niche out in the big, cold world and because of that, they can be happy and enjoy their own time together. In their own place, he even describes how he can make the world realize that they have and make them realize what they are missing out on in the midst of fighting.
