I think I'm going to be seeing a majority of my votes going more towards old school artists that were the founders more than who is currently better. I wanted to vote Mos Def also but I couldn't pass up the influence that Afrika Bambaataa had on so many other artists.

If it makes you feel any better, I was torn between Afrika and Mos.
I wanted to vote Afrika for the same reason you did, because he influenced pretty much everyone (including one of my favorites, Tech N9ne) but I eventually picked Mos because of the aamount of time I've spent listening to him.
