Aww jeez... you should see me at funerals.
I'm literally the most pissed off person on the planet.
I was pressured to be there, pressured to wear this ridiculously pointless color schemed costume, pressured to express my emotions the same way everyone else does, pressured to say those stupid fucking Hallmark movie quote lines to family and friends... it's all so damn fake.

I deal with death in my own way. I don't need to act out a script to do it. It might seem childish of me, but honestly, I do NOT do well in seeing relevance of tradition. Especially when we're putting someone in the effing ground. I come to terms with things on my own. I don't need to watch a choreographed live action episode about it.

People are so goddamn trapped by their own history.
It's embarrassing to me, as a human being.

Well, no. Not at actual funerals, although I did eat fruit pastels at a funeral once.

I'm talking about the wake, do funerals in LA have wakes? excuse my ignorance.

If not, a wake is when after the funeral, people go back to a pub and have a few drinks and eat a bit of buffet.

Random off-topic fact, the other day I learnt that the term 'wake' comes from way back when people in comas and stuff were sometimes mistaken as being dead and were buried alive. So when somebody died, people used to place the dead (or coma-ed) person in the middle of a space and party and dance and sing loudly around them to try and wake them up. Weird.

"You awake yet?"

"Nope, keep singing and dancing."

Actually.. Over here, a Wake is traditionally performed before the funeral. It's the viewing of the body and the paying of the respects. It's the more personal aspects of the burial. The burial itself follows the Wake, in which the casket and funeral procession follows, escorted by police, to the cemetery in which the casket will be laid.

I don't eat during either affair.
It's disgusting.

Could have a nibble on the corpse?

It may be frowned upon though..

When you said

"It's disgusting"

Do you mean it as in..

Oh it's disgusting, I don't have the stomach to eat on such a sad occasion.

Or..

It's disgusting that I don't get to eat food just because it's not how we do things in America?
