I agree with Piss Me Off here, if people can't respond to eachother with some level of respect, then this thread is more trouble than it's worth and should be closed.

In a thread like this, of course people will just call out bands without much reasoning or other things that might provoke. Instead of acting out of line when it happens, keep it in mind and try to stay above it.

Close it. My arguement concerned the fact that d-bag wasnt even calling out bands, but the thread in general. Ill defend the thread respectfully about up to the point when I'm called idiot by a rag doll whose 'intelligent exceeds that of the thread posters', then thats about it, disrepectful time. I think the whole Boo boo and Ethan thing is just funny anyways because they couldnt be anymore serious.

Hell no

This is one of the funniest threads on the entire forum. Closing it would be far too easy. People just need to get off their high horses and stop taking it so damn seriously when someone they like gets mentioned.

If someone closes this just because one person throws a hissy fit then i'll just re-open it and let the rest of us who do enjoy this thread and CAN post in it without getting worked up or abusive are able to continue posting in it.

Well, I'm not gonna close it! Most if not all mods besides me have been participating in this thread, so I don't think it requires my attention.

My last post was more just a call out for (more) mutual respect.

Hm...For me the most overrated band is Slipknot. They have a couple of nice songs, but the average quality of their tracks is very low.

Family Fued: Music Banter

Here's the rundown though. If you think Nick Drake and/or Elliot Smith are bad guitarists...

1. You are wrong - there are no points in their music where they are unable to play certain pieces. They are able to play exactly what they need to play.
2. You are listening to them for the wrong reasons - both are renowned lyricists, not guitarists
3. Elliott Smith is rated about right - He's one of the more influential artists of his time and is treated as such. And he's definitely not hyped up to the level of some notable Pitchfork Darlings.

Switch college kids with indie fans (and indie's popularity in general has expanded in the past few years) and you have his modern fanbase now. He isn't even that liked in indie circles - it's really only by a certain kind of indie fan but that's a different discussion.

Also how well received he is can be measured. You'd have to take dozens of reviews and figure out the gross amount (which I doubt either of us really wants to do) but it is something that can be objectively quantified.
Me: "Neither of us are right or wrong, it's all just a matter of opinion."

You: "No, my opinion is right."

lol

The end.

The best part is the have an insane number of members 8 or 9? I would like a band with that many mebers would be making some incredible sounds.
