a new one for moi, Guns 'n' roses were over-rated i think, Compltely over-indulged a lot of their songs (notably November Rain though im not a totally reliable source as ive never made it past the 5 minute mark), Axl's voice sounds like my cat when hungry. Slash, fair enough, great guitar work in sweet child o'mine but what makes him so special and better than all the other greats apart from that song? yeah hes produced some great riffs but is he really greater than page, beck or hendrix (who have produced their own masterpieces such as kashmir, voodoo child etc) like many people believe. i mean, they say "oh yeah Slash is the greatest" without even hearing the aformentioned legends (and im talking about the early teen rock fans here)
i know my opinion will be met with probably a barage of disagreement which may i add, im bracing myself for.

right, theres my essay. enjoy.

i think Kid Rock should be mentioned here.. the guy is a loser. he can hardly play guitar, sings worse than he plays, and cant make up his mind about which one to stick to. back in the day, rap and metal were combined, and bands like Rage Against the Machine came out, did a good job. Classical music was included into some Rock bands songs..
the ****head kidrock is tryin to be a country singer, who plays rock and acts like hes scared to show that he wishes he was black.
if you didnt notice, i hate kid rock. he sucks, deserves to be peeled and placed in a bag of salt, with the bag sewed shut, then inserted into a pot of liquid wrench, lid welded on, then used as spaceshuttle re-entry testing..
get a life, Kid. its your turn to fall of the wagon, do it quietly so people dont remember you, and how badly you failed.
and please, please dont try a comeback.

and another thing, dont mean to offend any Zeppelin fans with this..
i'm not saying Zeppelin is overrated at all..
but i must laugh, because every time a new guitar kid goes into an instrument store and picks up a guitar, they always play their version of "Stairway To Heaven."
i've listened to it, heard it, played it, and still cant see how that song got popular. it really isnt very catching, doesnt have any real great guitar parts in it, just patterned riffs. this is just my opinion that i wanted voiced.

^The reason that every kid plays stairway is because its a great song to learn. You may think that it's just patterned riffs, but every verse has a subtle difference from the next, and if you've ever heard the solo, then you'd appreciate why its a great song. plus its a pretty technically challenging song (for a beginner that is), and it really helps you to improve. As for not being very catchy, that's a matter of opinion. it really is a brilliant song, lyrically and musically, but then again thats just my opinion, and since it is so popular, that definitely tells you something.

you know i could think of a billion other songs where i could have asked how it got popular....stairway to heaven would probably not have even come up....
