Albinis involvement or not In Utero is by no means better produced than Nevermind. And Nevermind is actually my favorite Nirvana album. I know people hated it for the same reason Cobain wasn't true proud of it, the very polished production. Me personally, I'm a whore for polished production, and putting that aside, the songwriting on Nevermind is a hell of a lot better than that on Bleach, I don't care what anyone says, Bleach had a few throwaway songs, and Nevermind only had one, Territorial Pissings. In Utero while having better songs than Nevermind, also has worse songs than Nevermind. Overall Nevermind is their most consistant work and thats why its my favorite. |

I like Nevermind but it was not a favorite of mine. Bleach was special in the sense that it was true Grunge, the sound was mesmerizing and mixed the metal sound with punk perfectly. In Utero is by far more polished than Nevermind in the book "Heavier Than Heaven Kurt wanted it to be that way, it also shows just the growth of the band. Song writing, yes Nevermind is better lyrically than Bleach. But Nevermind had Something In The Way, Territorial Pissings that are throw away songs (i'm not a fan of Something In The Way, I feel it's very repetitve) Bleach had songs like Love Buzz, About A Girl and Big Cheese that were just without a doubt great songs, and I feel Bleach was MUCh more consistent than Nevermind was. |
