I can definitely understand why many would think TAF are overrated, but I love their music (especially Funeral) nevertheless. They're also great live and I've only seen them at festivals.

Now, the Arcade Fire put on an absolutely awesome show and blew me away. It was bloody glorious. I swear all of them can play each other's instruments - they were trading between roles. Amazing stage presence... jumping all over the place and playing with sheer energy. At one stage, two of them were rolling around on the stage and drumming on each other. One of them also climbed up the metal framework of the stage and started banging on his drum up there. Here's a pic of it. And another pic. Definitely one of the best shows I've seen.

Lol I always used to defend Tool here but these days I'm fairly comfortable with people calling them overrated. But I still find it rediculously funny to see the amount of people that get really wound up because so many people idolise the band and they can't work out why. Or they think there should be some obvious reason why people love them. They're just a good band. It's that simple. They have a good drummer, and Maynard is easily a top frontman of the 90's and today, but other than that they're just a bloody standard band...that's ironically, fucking great.
For example, Opiate, such a great hard rock e.p. But why? Musicianship isn't mindblowing, yet somehow this is exactly what hard rock should be. None of that Welcome to the Jungle crap. Edit: Seltzer I want to hear all about that.

When I say festivals, to be honest I really mean Reading Festival '05 and '07. Seeing them in the tent in '05 was ridiculous; possibly the only time when I've been crushed to within an inch of my life. Me being a short bugger didn't help matters either, but the atmosphere was just incredible and everyone was singing along. They weren't as good last year, but that was because they were on the main stage.

I knew instinctly you'd be the sort to haterize on the beatles too. It's amazing, I really don't get why or how it's possible to find proggies and metalheads slating bands from genres they have no interest in whatsoever. Especially since they often like to consider themselves more intelligent than other people and in possession of some sort of higher understanding, you don't expect such careless nonsense comments.
The Beatles are the best at what they did. If you don't like bands or sounds that gravitate towards that side of things, you shouldn't comment. |
