the fact that they pop up in almost every 'top 10 ever' list - even from our generation.

Agreed on them, Foo Fighters, and blink 182.
But not RHCP nor The Beatles. Chili Peppers are crazy guys that deserve whatever popularity they get, just due to the fact they act so insanely. But The Beatles.. Never listened to them much, or had anyone around me do so. Can't understand what huge publicity they have that makes them overrated.
My heart stopped beating reading this post.

The Chili Ppers are still a great band. But they're slowly becoming a tad overrated. First with By the Way and now with Stadium Arcadium.

The Beatles will never be overrated. Too many poeple love them for too many reasons.

The Foo Fighters consistantly make great albums. Their live performances rock and Dave Grohl has one of the most distinct voices ever. No confusing them for another band.

Nirvana is sometimes overrated.

Foo Fighters are lame, and it's just the people with the 'OMG I LOVE THEM' and the hearing of one song. That's overrated. And I didn't disagree with you on anything else, why is my post so.. evil?

No, I don't bash Nirvana. They're decent every now and then. But they don't deserve that huge amount of publicity, they aren't THAT good.

Yes, of course it's my opinion, I can't speak in someone else's voice.

They've been overrated, they've put out a few good albums but all they're basically beating a dead horse now and get way more hype then they deserve.

...How does the amount of people that love them prove they aren't overrated? That'd more just add to it..

Still doesn't change the fact they're overrated, and the foo fighters may be great but they're generic as hell.

Okay, what? Nirvana is overrated, I don't really see how a band can be only overrated sometimes, in certain scenes maybe..

Nirvana gets just as much hate as they do love. Probably more hate. I really only like Bleach but you can't deny that they did a lot for mainstream music. Without them there is no post-grunge scene from early/mid 90s to 98. I mean they busted through and people listened.

They have about 12 albums. Every last one of them was a freat album. Record sales don't lie about these things.

The Foo Fighters arne't generic. they've been around for years. If anything it's bands of today and yesteryear that are copying them and being generic.

That was me being indecisive.
I can't decide on whether they're overrated or not

I'm a big fan of the foo Fighters. I've seen them live maybe 8 times or some where around that number.
I can honestly say that I love them but I can also admit that there are maybe three songs by them that I wouldn't listen to given the choice.
And some of their songs do make you wanna go a little crazy and love something.
Can't be helped.

I like it when he keeps his gob shut and plays the drums.

Record sales don't mean shit. Avril has sold tons of records, more then the sounds of animals fighting, so I suppose shes a great artist and better then them too? Popularity doesn't dertimine greatness, nor does it prove much. The Chili Peppers are repetive, maybe if you take your 'boyfriend's dick out of your ear, you'll realize that.

Okay, once again you've managed to make a slightly relevant post that didn't really answer his question at all. I mean, if he/she really looked into it, I suppose they could drag out the answer being his post was so evil because you're a fan of them, but thats pretty weak reasoning.
