Problem with kid guitar string.

Hi everyone,

I've bought for my kid a "kid guitar", length ~53cm.

I've tune the strings, but the E2 string wont reach the correct tune (or become too loose )

Maybe on a such small guitar is normal ? Should I target other tune than

E2, A2, D3, G3, B3, E4 ?

Thanks.

"kid guitars" are often of bad quality

It's better to buy a 1/2 guitar from a normal music shop.

But overall I would advise buying a normal one

That's what he'll be playing in a couple years anyway, better to get used to it

Thanks @Mucha na Dziko,

I will look for those 1/2 sized guitar.

It's not uncommon for smaller or "kid guitars" to have different tunings to accommodate their size and scale length. The shorter scale length can affect the tension of the strings, making it challenging to reach standard tuning.

If you're having difficulty getting the E2 string to the correct pitch, you might want to consider tuning the guitar to a different pitch that maintains proper tension given its smaller size.

Here's an example of an alternative tuning you could try:

A2 (tune the E2 string up to A2)
D3
G3
B3
E4
This adjustment may help in achieving a better balance of string tension for your kid's guitar. Experiment with different tunings until you find one that works well for the instrument's size and your child's comfort in playing.

Keep in mind that smaller guitars, especially those designed for kids, often have unique characteristics and might not perfectly match standard guitar tunings. If you have the option, it could also be helpful to consult the user manual or contact the manufacturer for specific tuning recommendations tailored to that particular guitar model.

It's not uncommon for certain strings, especially the lower-pitched ones, to exhibit differences in tension compared to a full-sized guitar.
