Probably guitar next. For fundamental purposes of songwriting. I think it'll help me learn chord structures better. I can do a little guitar work, just not enough to say that I play guitar, at least not by my own standards. Same as with piano/keys.

I've always though the harmonica was pretty cool.
I've tried, but I just don't have the lungs for it. Gassed in less than a minute. |
1. Bagpipes
2. Clarinet 3. Sitar 4. Tabla 5. Voice (already playing the piano and some Cuban drums) |
I'm already trying to learn the bagpipes and a little guitar and flute stuff.
If I had the time and talent I would also learn crwth and talharpa. But I guess I'm too old to start something new  |
Yeah I wonder when someone is too old to start learning an instrument.
I would love to learn how to play a piano, then the guitar and drums. I think the latter would be the most difficult, just airdrumming different things with 4 limbs proves quite difficult. Not sure if that's something you can learn? |

Piano. My grandpop was a wizard on keys, apparently. He died before I was born so I never got the chance to hear him. But it comes rather easily to me - just never felt challenged or intrigued enough to really learn. |
Yeah, to be honest, the whole 9-6 job thing is really putting a dent on my hobby ambitions. I'd also like to learn/improve on various foreign languages (Spanish, Portugues, Italian and French ideally). But I also have a lot of books on my to-read list, I still haven't seen all interesting movies ever made (although that one at least is within my reach), there's loads of classic music I haven't gotten around to properly listening to (working from home during the pandemic helps) etc. If I go to the gym 5-6 times per week, AND HAVE TO COOK AND FEED MYSELF, it seems there's not enough time in the day to do everything!
I don't know how you managed to get that encyclopedic knowledge in films and classical music while holding down a job, something must have suffered. :/ |
:) Never enough hours in the day is there? I think it’s a blessing to feel that way. Though, to be honest, the older I get the more I relish doing absolutely nothing.
|
I'd like to improve my drum sequencing with Reaper. I have a long way to go since my rhythm skills (timing and snare drum rudiments) are terrible as well as my drum sequencing skills. I just gotta get on that horse and start riding it.
