Hello all,



I am on a quest to find a specific kind of sound, and I would love some assistance in this matter. While I am familiar with the term 'snare drum', I believe it's far more general a term than I originally thought, as it seems to apply to drums of all shapes and sizes.


This is the sound I am trying to replicate:




Specifically the 4 snare drums. Any ideas on what this is called, and how the shape affects the staccato sound? I really want the 'lighter' tone they are playing, as opposed to, say:






Any ideas? I assume the taller/wider the drum, the deeper the sound?
