I'm quitting electric guitar.

Before this weekend I'd played my Martin acoustic 100% for about 5 months. For the last 2 days I tried to get into playing my electrics. Ain't happening at all. I just want that acoustic piece of wood on my lap.

Selling off a TON of stuff. The only electric I'm keeping is the Telecaster that was my 50th B-day present.

Anyone here have some cash and is looking for a steal?

You know, whenever I as a twenty-something find myself thinking that such-and-such makes me feel old, I'll remember this thread and celebrate my youth.

My pleasure. (you can't celebrate youth at your age man - unless you're in absolute ridiculous denial)

Just out of interest what was the issue, just the lack of size?

I've been playing most of my life, I used to switch between phases of acoustic, 12 string and electric but then I got hold of an Epiphone 335 and I completely lost interest in playing acoustics since it sounded so sweet even unplugged. Seems like a bizarre kind of reversal of your situation.

I started playing electric 42 years ago and it just doesn't do it for me anymore. At this point the Martin is all I want to play.

Unless you're hurting for cash I'd recommend holding onto your equipment. 42 years is a long time, but it's also a long time to drop something you've put so much time and energy into. I've only played guitar for 13 years and 2 years ago I thought I put it behind me to focus on banjo and mandolin, then last year it was just banjo, mandolin, blues/ folk/ jazz, and now this year all I want to do is shred. Again, you've got more than triple the years on me, but it's better to have something and not need it than need it and not have it.

I can shred with the acoustic. I sanded down the nut so the action is nice and low plus I use lighter gauge strings. And I'll keep the tele for if the urge hits.

I gave him the same advice in my PM to him about this pretty much. He's still holding onto one of his Teles, so there's always hope for a new Chula rock day.
