Default What percussion instrument would best be suited for a "one man band"?

Hey there friends! I would like to know which percussion instrument(like the congas, not like a classic drum set) i should start playing. For the time being i will be playing by myself - so i wonder what percussion instrument would be most fun in your opinion?

Thanks!

My suggestion is to start with a snare, then to expand your collection with drums you enjoy and/or think would be fitting for what you're playing. Which genre(s) do you play

Cuban Timbales.

Get good at that set-up, and you've got a simple, danceable, one-man band right there.
