Finger Picking to Strumming
With many songs that use finger picking I can figure out a "good enough" strumming pattern/ chord progression to play the song. I can not seem to get one going for Nick Drake songs. The soft mellow style makes it hard for me.
Can anyone give an example to any of his finger picking songs no video necessary maybe just a good chord progression or strumming pattern? |

Find the chords on the web using google, trial and error that way. Mostly they're just major/minor/7th. Strumming pattern is best done by ear, notation/tabs don't have them or are usually wrong. I don't know the artist but sounds the soft mellow style seems like on a minor key.

...Any reason you can't just finger-pick it?
Nick Drake's music kind of needs that to work the way it does... I can't imagine, say "Black-Eyed Dog" with strumming. Well, ok, I can, but it's a completely different song. EDIT: Actually, Black Eyed Dog is sort of a combo picking-strumming thing. It's pretty dang simple. |
