Iconic guitars

Hendrix's Strat, Slash's Les Paul, Angus Young's SG, Prince's Cloud. Some of the most iconic guitars of all time, but which is the most iconic? would love to hear all of your opinions and suggestions on this topic to find out really which is the most iconic guitar. :band:

Rick Nielsons' 5 neck is another one.

Pics please. Also is it okay if this thread just gets derailed with cool, artsy guitars?

Three guitars that changed the world:
  • Les Paul's Log (a 4x4 with an Epiphone neck, and homemade low impedance p-ups. The Log replaced the Clunker that prove too heavy because it was made from a Railroad tie.)
  • Eddie Van Halen's Frankenstrat (PAF humbucker from a Gibson 335, and originally with a Fender Tremolo System, before a Floyd)
  • Clarence White's B-Bender Telecaster (It was build with help from Gene Parsons, drummer and mechanist, and parts of a pedal steel and other junk.)
My three favorite:
  • Steve Howe -Gibson ES-175
  • Cliff Gallup - Gretsch Duo Jet
  • Keith Richards - Gibson Sunburst Les Paul
  • Hank Marvin - Fender Fiesta Red Stratocaster
  • Brian May - Red Special aka Fireplace or the Old Lady (It was homemade with help from his father.)

I'd say let's get started.

Quality post^10. I had no idea they printed guitars with 3D printers already!

I don't know of anyone that actually plays one of these, but I've always found the harp guitar to be cool and intriguing.

It's interesting...I can't say I'm a huge fan of this...but I am somehow unable to stop listening this song. Odd. That jazz (electric I'm assuming) keyboard playing is some high-level awesome though.

I would love to see him and Don Ross duet with two of them things.

If I could post links or pics I would but I have not been granted that privilege!

Clapton's SG "The Fool" comes to my mind. Look up on YouTube "eric clapton sg" and you shall find an interview of him in the Cream era basically revealing his secrets to his sound. And oh boy, that tone. Lovely lovely distortion.

Marcus Brummel 08-16-2014 09:43 AM

That guitar that Lindsey Buckingham plays is unique.
