Well, I am thinking of doing a few more upgrades to my Gibson Melody Maker.
The configuration on it is 1 humbucker in the bridge (obviously) and 1 volume knob. Pretty straight forward set up. I was thinking of upgrading the volume pot, as it seems a little off, I fooled around with it one day and it got a little loose, so instead of just fixing it, I think I should get a new one. I was thinking, since it has no tone knob, I would use a concentric pot, I am thinking 500k. Wondering if anyone has much experience here on this. I think the stock pot is a 300k. I hear some people say they think that a 500k in a bridge may result in a more harsh tone, more treble. But I find the highs on the guitar can sometimes be a little lacking when playing in clean on my amp. What is the best idea here? what should I try? any suggestions on what to go with brand wise? Would also like to maybe do a push/pull with the pot. Though I do not know if this even exists, or whatnot. Hopefully this all makes sense to someone.
