Humbucker vs. Single-coil
Hey, just as the title says, which do you think is better; Humbucker pickups or Single-coil pickups? Why?
They both have there intended uses. Humbuckers have more "beef" single-coils have better articulation
Yeah the single coil is alot more clean and snappy, but on both my electrics I have at least one of each
single coils because they have a cleaner sound, but if i was you and you like heavier sounds then i would like the humbuckers if i was you. word.
id take soapbars. the best of both worlds.
actually, the guitar i have right now has stock humbuckers. the guitar im going to get once i have sufficient funds, has two emg hz's i believe theyre called. they give a much more crisp sound while at the same time still having that beefy low end. |
I like both. Actually a pickup cunfiguration that is getting seen more and more lately is a humbucker in the bridge and neck position and a single-coil in the middle. I think that's a very versatile set up because the positive thing about ingle coils is they really articulate subtle nuances of picking and string dynamics, but in the neck position they they tend to sound really "hollow". By moving the single-coil closer to the bridlge position it tends to get rid of a lot of that overly rounded sound

i LOVE the tele 72 custom classic with the humbucker in the neck and a single coil in the bridge.... i want one... :D
Yeah, Doesn't Tom Morello play one?
huh? cleaner sound? with distortion on and with all the buzzing?
i use humbuckers all the time except when i'm playing blues or some latin stuff. |
