I'd recommend Seagull or Takamine's G series.

I personally don't like Ovation, but I know people who do, so that's all a matter of personal preference.

Edit: I came damn close to buying the G440c by Takamine; gorgeous guitar, and the tone had everything I was looking for in the price range.
