I played bass for the first time today.

Its much cooler on the bass. Check out some Michael Manring (sp?). He's the master.

I tend to overblow my bass quite a bit. I'm working on better breath control. The trick is to keep your valves well oiled, and always know which partial you're in.

Oh, wait, you guys are talking electric basses, with strings. Here I thought you meant the BRASS bass, which is the tuba. My bad. :D

Wouldn't know. I don't play electric bass.

I'll tell you how I play bass, very poorly.

Well, for starters, I play a 6-string bass, (B-high C), and play with fingers only. I use all 4 fingers (Index, Pinkie, Ring, Middle) for blisteringly fast stuff, and 2 or 3 fingers (depending on timing) for the rest. I use tapping a bit in some of our songs, ie: our song Heaven's Advocate, where there's a little bass solo at the end of the song utilizing a 2-handed tapping technique that's actually quite easy to do, but sounds cool as hell.
