Looks like in the video he pushes down on that bottle opener to control the wah effect.

That was my original thought, but I didn't catch that in the vid, so I didn't mention it. Nice catch. Reading through some of the reviews, it seems that if the components go out, you're screwed since they stop making replacement electrical components 20 years ago, unless you're an electrical engineer. Then you'd at least have a prayer.

Even then, all of the effects are sealed and encapsulated into a single module:

Additionally, the Vox wiring diagram for this guitar includes no service or repair information for these modules. If you find that changing the 9 volt battery that powers the internal effects does not correct a malfunctioning effects circuit, you should probably consider the onboard features permanently inoperative. Replacement modules have not been available for over twenty years.
But regardless, if anything that just makes the remaining working models rarer and even more valuable. I wonder how many of these are out there, I've never seen one before now.
I'd love to try one.

Thats the exact statement I read. Unless I was exceedingly rich, using one in a live situation wouldn't be an option (because of the many unforeseen factors that it entails), but yeah I'd love to take one for a test drive.

I love all these weird '60s guitars with the in-built electronics. I think they look mega. Undoubtedly a pain to uphold though.

Plus they end up hogging out a lot of the body's wood to fit everything - which often times ends up negatively affecting tone.
