I love my Ibanez RG. I'm looking at getting a PRS 24 Custom next...

I consider myself a drummer nowadays but put in a couple of decades playing guitar. Having had various fenders, an Ibanez, some epiphones and a couple of cheap LP copies I think my favourite has been the Epiphone 335 style Dot in vintage sunburst purely for looks. If I could've given that guitar the sounds of the Mexican tele but considerably louder I had I would've been a happy boy.

Good to see you all like Tele's here, I did love to record with mine but as a 6' 2" guy it always felt too small for me even though it was really heavy. In fact so heavy it confused the sales guys, they were convinced it had a Mexican fender employee's severed hand buried inside it somewhere as they handed it over.

That is odd, I've never felt a relatively heavy Telecaster. My American Standard almost seems weightless compared to something like a Les Paul Custom (which is absurdly heavy).

I owned this for a while and it was just under 10 pounds.

If the wood is still "wet" when it's sealed it can end up weighing a lot.

Looks like a weapon. Any other gorgeous natural finish guitars you've been hiding from me?

The overwhelming majority of these were acquired after the age of 45 and once I'd busted my ass enough to have some disposable cash. I bought most of them used and then would re-sell for about the same price to try another flavor.

Thinkin' I might start doing that, seems like a pretty reasonable way to sample as many as possible. Was re-selling usually pretty difficult? Did you just use Craigslist?

Ebay or join the forums of the builders. In the cases of the guys that have long lead times you end up making a nice profit.

I ordered a custom Thorn Artisan and it took 18 months to build. Got it and realized it was all bling and no sing and then sold it a few weeks later for a $600 profit. Same with one of the Briggs.
