Personally, I think no matter what, they just won't sound that great. I would invest in a small practice amp. I have the mini Vox tube amp for about 100 bucks. It goes from 1/10 of a watt of power to 4 watts. That should work for you plenty. It sounds a lot better too, pretty smooth.

AKG K240s. Best bang for your buck, imo. They sound better than Beats or Bose, and they don't break the bank. I've seen 'em as low as $79 recently, but they're usually around $99. They're studio monitors, too, so you're getting a pristine and realistic image of the sound, not some bull**** with crappy mids and too much low end.
EDIT: They're going for $69.87 on Amazon right now! Dear God! Snap those puppies up!
