What type of guitar is this?
I was listening to "All my life" by Kci and JoJo, and I am very curious to what type of guitar was used in the song. I've heard the same type of guitar in other old songs around the late 90s early 2000s, and it seemed to be somewhat common then, but I've never been able to figure out what that sound was. I'm into making music and would like to use that specific sound , so I would appreciate someone telling me what it is. Thanks

Its not a guitar, its a synth patch, from what I can tell. Its quite far down in the mix, can you find a more obvious example?

Yeah, thats much more clear.
Unfortunately it isn't a guitar, its a synth patch. It sounds kind of like a cross between a Harpsichord patch and a 12 string guitar patch. You can tell by the fact the notes have a very consistent tonal quality that simply wouldn't happen on a guitar, and the notes are struck very precisely. A guitarist would have natural variation in pitch and timbre that doesn't occur here. I couldn't tell you how to recreate it, but I can tell you a real guitar will never sound like that. Edit: Actually, you could get close, but you'd need to compress the signal a LOT, and use a whole host of wacky effects to get anywhere near close. Even then, I'm not sure how close you could really get. |
Oh ok. Guess I'll just try different things, I have a music sequencer program called FL Studio and that has tons of effects so I might get that sound somehow hopefully lol. But anyway, thanks for your help.:D
