Default Sitar Purchase

I'm considering purchasing a sitar and am willing to put the necessary money out for the instrument if it's necessary, but I just have a few quick questions first. How does a normal sitar compare to a student or miniature sitar? The cost is several hundreds of dollars in difference, so I'd like to know the difference in quality and such.

Also, is it easy to transfer work that you've learned from a guitar and violin to the sitar? Because one of the main reasons that I'm buying this instrument is to transcribe a few pieces of mine to the sitar from guitar and violin to add a more oriental feel to the songs, which often use the oriental and melodic (I think?) minor scales.

Any help will be much appreciated.

why don't you start with a Coral Electric Sitar?

it's basically just a guitar with sympathetic strings

as for me, i've only played a vinod, not a sitar

but i have played the Coral
