What instrument is this?
at 2:06 this guy is drumming on what just look like a table? anyone know what this is? is this the device used to make the beats for the drum and bass genre?

Its a midi drum pad. They're used to trigger computer samples, usually of drumkits. They're useful if you want to have more of a "Human" feel to a drum track, instead of relying on a computer program which might feel too rigid and stiff.
