How to Learn Flamenco?
If anyone on here plays Flamenco how did you start?
I have a practice track with intense Flamenco and all I can do with it is play rhythm. Can an electric with light strings play Flamenco or is a real Nylon Guitar Required? Finger picks, good, bad, required or preference of for Flamenco? Thanks for all the replies. |
To play flamenco properly, you need a flamenco guitar. No electric will ever cut it. Most nylon string acoustics won't do either, you need a flamenco guitar, one with the proper golpe plates and so on.
As for technique, find a teacher. Flamenco is a VERY rigid style, with no margin for bad habits or strange peculiarities. If you try and learn flamenco without a teacher you WILL **** it up and teach yourself bad habits that will have to be un-learned later. |
Thanks for the reply. Flamenco is my goal.
Do you have any suggestions for generic Flamenco Guitar manufactures? Or do I have to go to a country like Argentina to pick up a good deal? I don't have the money for either but I can save up. Journeying for a guitar is a beautiful journey when it is not expensive. What countries for Flamenco do you know have the best authentic and cost affordable Flamenco guitar? |
