Can't really go wrong with Native Instruments Battery. Top-tier as far as most of the production world is concerned.
Of course, you're still limited by the drum samples you're using in any scenario. If you're more into the realistic acoustic drums, you'll want Fxpansion - BFD or Toontrack - EZ Drummer. Battery is more of a drum-oriented sampler, which does provide sounds, but it's not really locked into a specific niche, but is the most customizable of the bunch, followed by BFD, then EZ Drummer.

In any case, you can use your own sounds and one-hits no matter what.

EZDrummer, Superior Drummer, Addictive Drums, BFD 2. Though the best thing is to "collect" sounds, and apply them to your sampler. Also. Don't forget that mixing it properly is also a must. Its all in the mix - you can get good results even if you use a ****ty sampler.

P.S.
Though if your into making soundtracks etc, than you should go with StormDrum 2. Its wicked.

All of them, I think. As far as I know you can run presets and loops on any sampler. You can even download more presets & loops, if you want something specific.
