What's that instrument?

Hi guys,

I'm not sure if there's a thread for this already but I was wondering if anyone could confirm that it's a violin backing up the shamisen at 2:53 of this video:

May also be helpful to leave this thread open for other people who want to ID instruments.

I'd say it's an Erhu, it's definitely not a violin.
