Don't get a coloured violin. The finishes they use to achieve those colours are far too thick to let the wood vibrate, it will sound HORRIBLE. I foolishly bought a blue violin and discovered this the hard way, have had it confirmed to me on a number of occasions by real violinists that it applies to all weird finished violins except those built by masterbuilders.


The normal finish for a violin is, at least when cheaply made, the best finish, because its the thinnest.
