Baritone guitars are not tuned an octave lower but rather a bit lower to a low A or B or C note and follows the usual standard guitar tuning. They are strung with heavier strings.
They were introduced in 60's for playing 'bass-like' melodies and what was called Tic Tac Bass. Here is a great example of it's tone (1:50), great song also imo. |
