All I'm saying is that I'm lazy and if I were not lazy and had adequate amount of patience I would love to be able to learn to play guitar. I have a lot of respect for people who can play any instrument and play it well. Some of my favorites: Ani Difranco, Tori Amos, Neko Case just to name a few.

That's awesome. I want an electronic kit. Apartment life sucks. No real drums, and no big dogs.

learning to play basic guitar is not complicated. plus the self discipline you would develop by teaching yourself how to play will most definitely come in handy as you progress through life. as for the e-drum action. i'm going to silly foolish tomorrow night and check out the ion drum kits for rockband at futureshop. it's basically a hybrid entry level e-drum kit that works with the games out of the box, but has the option to hook up an alesis drum brain to the kit for more traditional uses. yay apartment living |

Sometimes you get to bang it out on your drums, sometimes you have the chance to take a song and make the other instruments way better with light or heavy dynamics, consistency, or sometimes by playing less. A band is only as good as its drummer. |

Since the clause "even if not very well" was included...
I can play basic rhythm guitar--chords, some fingerpicking. Anything fancier than that starts to get out of my range. It's one of those things that I'd be better at if I invested more time in it, but I do all I want to do, so... yeah. In addition to the guitar(s), I also have a bass, a banjo and a mandolin that I just play around with at my leisure. I really want to take piano lessons--I can play a few simple things by ear and almost anything one-handed but that's something I actually would like to become better at. I played trombone for four years in school and I still break it out once in a while. I also took lessons on the oboe and flute (although I never quite got the hang of the flute). On top of that I've got a trumpet and a clarinet and I had a(n alto) saxophone for a while but the person I borrowed it from took it back. Wind (particularly brass) instruments are where I shine, I think--they're the most fun for me and I seem to take to them the best/easiest. I have a violin. I'm terrible at it. Although I probably could/will get free lessons if I move in with a friend of mine this summer. I dunno... I really want some bagpipes. And a cello. And a bassoon. And a harp. I just like playing with things that make sound.
