what were you expecting it to do?
a controller is exactly that. think of it in video game terms, does a controller do anything without the console (synth)? does the console do anything without a game(module)? |

I want to use the keyboard to play live music but i don't have the knowledge to get it up and running. I have a laptop but i don't know what kind of program i should get.The manual says i need a GM Compatible Sound Module but i don't know where to even look.
Do you recommend any basic equipment? |

Freebase Dali and a few others should be able to hook you up with gear recommendations.
as for the actual controller itself. that's really all you have. bare minimum you're going to need some sort of synthesizer to generate sounds that are then controlled by your current device. you can get software or hardware based synths and soundbanks but again i'm not the expert here. where did you buy this? was it a private sale or from a music store? if it's from a store find out what their return policy is and maybe get them to show you everything involved in getting a live setup like what you're hoping to get. if all you really wanted to do was play live keyboards then a clerk should have just pointed you towards regular keyboards. |
