Thanks mr dave, lifesaver!

I am going to attempt to give the amp a clean, like you said it might have gotten cruddy due to being moved. If I can't seem to rectify the problem I'll test the bass out in other amps and see if it works and if all else fails I'll take it to a music store to get some advice.
