once a computer can create all the nuances of a guitar all by itself, i doubt it qualifies as an "instrument"

Would you be ok with computer software synthesizers being called "virtual instruments"? Because that's what they're called. Perhaps we should use that qualifier to end this entire debate.

but you're not closing this thread?

i have no problems of them being called "virtual instruments", just not an actual "musical instrument"

Can this thread just get locked already? It seems like it gets brought up once every few weeks, and honestly, is this even an argument or discussion that needs to be made? Aren't we over the whole "COMPUTERS ARENT INSTRUMENTS (BECAUSE I HATE EVERYTHING EXCEPT ROCK)"?

Yeah. All the new posts are from newbies who won't stick around and haven't read anything except the title and decided "I DO NOT LIKE ELECTRO MUST POST MUST POST MUST TELL THEM IT ISN'T AN INSTRUMENT"
