Thinking about starting banjo.
I've never really played an instrument before. Except scratching on my turntables. But I want to play the banjo because I love the sound.
Tips or suggestions? Thanks! |
Billy Faier. Nuff said.

I love the instrument so I say - yes, play it.
Seems a little odd to learn banjo as your first stringed instrument but why not? It would be cool if you learned to play banjo really well and then discovered that you automatically sorta know how to play guitar (normally it would be the other way around). |
I've played guitar and keys for five years prior to starting banjo, which I picked up a couple weeks ago. Once you figure out the tuning it's really a breeze, and I'd say I'm pretty darn good at this point. Really fun instrument I say.

Let me tell you, I've heard the banjo played well.
Beautiful instrument. Let us know how that goes. Maybe journal it. |
Why not a Lapsteel guitar? That might be a bit hard though, getting the right pitch and everything.

A guitar you play on your lap with a steel slide, hence the name lapsteel.

I vote yes. It's one of the coolest instruments out there, so underrated. I really want to learn how to play too. I have a friend who does. I'll ask her for some tips and get back to you.
