Dave, i sort of know what you mean, the unwound ones are great but the bass strings can seem a bit metalic for the first day or so. I don`t know why? I usually change strings a day or so before anything important.

I just have a bad habit of trying new strings for different sounds. Sometimes I fall in love with a sound and in turn it effects the style I play, but then there are times when I get poor results and change them almost immediately and throw the old under my bed in case I break one, then Im really effed up.
