Amp Wars
A companion piece to my Guitar thread.
I'm sick of my kit and gigging more frequently, so I need more stuff and better stuff. I'm currently playing trough a Laney TF60 or something, it's basically a better sounding laney version of the Marshall Valvestate. Now....I kinda hate this amp. Recommend me something: -15-60 watts -all tube -Brit sounding gain - vox/orange/fender-esque rather than mesa or -decent prices. I've been looking at: -Vox AC30 reissue -Orange tiny terror -Laney VC15 and VC30 Help me out. |
Have you looked at the Vox Classic Plus AC50?
It's only about 650 us dollars. Not sure how it compares to the AC30. The Custom Classic has superior sound quality but it's way more expensive. |
I checkedout the AC50, i think it might be too loud for my application, I use my friends AC30 quite a bit and that was perfect volume wise.
Can't afford the custom classic. The peavey classic 30's look alright. |

Yeah I've had a bit of a look at it, gotta read some more through.

How about a re-issue '65 Fender Reverb Deluxe, it's a combo amp with a single 12" speaker, 22 Watts, Spring Reverb, & Vibrato. It is a step down model-wise from the coveted Twin Reverb, but a lot of people prefer to use it in the studio. I'm Beatle and Stones fan and I read were John and Keith both used them. You can use it for anything like Jazz, Country Rock etc.

Thread concluded: I'm getting a Vox AC15cc1
|
Good choice... If I had the option I would have purchased the Vox but, alas I am poor...
