There isn't a best drum set for Metal. There are, however, best drummers for Metal.
What you have to understand is that regardless of the drum set you have, if you don't know what you're doing, your "Metal" drum set won't turn your drumming into Metal drumming. You could buy Chris Addler's drum set and if you don't know how to play, believe me, the drum set won't help. If I were you, I'd buy a simple drum set that will be durable enough to live through years of practice. When you're confident in your playing, then expand and begin adding stuff to your set. Start with the basics and work your way up. Starting out with a huge set is just going to distract you. Save the expenses and give yourself time to figure out whether this is actually what you want and if you stick with it, then reward yourself with additions and upgrades. Years down the line, you'll thank yourself. |
If you play metal... hit hard. Your drums will sound good. Hit hard. Very very hard. Almost anything will do.

If your going for Cheap And Decent I suggest A Rockwood By honer Drumset But replace the Snare Head and Get alot of crashes and a double abss pedal and itll be okay..
But if Moneys No Object Get a Joey Jordinson Signature Kit. |
Any basic bass-snare,2 or 3 toms, hi-hat, crash and ride should work. Then, if you intend to make use of double bass alot, get some double bass peddles so you have a way to practice double bass. Thats all you really need, enough to allow you to practice.
But honestly, if you are just starting out, you don't even need the double bass pedals. There are so many more important things to learn then double bass on the drums. |
Best metal drum sets.
