Default Drum or guitar

which is easier to learn? the reason why i asked is because its a requirement on my music subject. by the end of the semester, we need to learn how to play at least and instrument. i find guitar and drum cooler than other musical instruments. it's just that i need to learn it within 4 months!

they're both going to require the same amount of practice to develop abilities with.

the more pressing question is do you have a place where you could practice the drums without getting a visit from the police for a noise complaint. they take up lots of space and are generally quite loud.

on the other hand, you can learn to play guitar on an unplugged electric. they take up way less space and are usually easier to find and cheaper to purchase (especially 2nd hand)

Do you ALWAYS just go with whats easier?? If so I would still be playing my recorder.

Love the question...

Go for the triangle dude, in 4 months you`ll know how to hit all 3 sides well.

why do you need to learn it within 4 months?

And I don't know which of the two is easier to learn, but guitar is certainly the more practical instrument.

You'll probably be able to fake guitar better than you could fake drums in 4 months. You could easily learn to play a few tunes on guitar well enough if you have good rhythm. Drums are really hard to learn to make sound good quickly. If you do go that route... don't be a afraid to hit them. Most beginner drummers I've seen hit super soft which sounds horrible. Good luck.

Yeah, but I would suggest giving both a quick try. I tried guitar and just didn't like it and wasn't very good at it, but it was fairly easy for me to sit down on a drumset and start playing some simple beats pretty quickly.
