Default Cleaning the pot in my amp to fix cracking

Hi,
My amp is crackling and I was told that I may have to clean the pot to fix this. Any suggestions on how I would do this on a Peavey Bandit and any precautions to take while doing so?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Haha no, try cleaning the pots in your guitar. Alot of times the crackling you hear is because of a dirty/damaged pot(s) in a guitar.

yeah it's normally just dust in the mechanisms under the plastic knob. if it actually is one of the knobs on the amp just pull the plastic cover off and spray some compressed air in there while turning the knob all the way a few times.

might not hurt to turn it off first too hehe
