Cool DeFord Flute?

I just aquired an old Deford-Elkhart flute, model #3 - serial # A27654. Seems to be in cood condition. Is this flute worth learning to play on, what might it be worth? I know that DeFord made a wide range of flutes of varying quality. Any feedback would be appreciated.

from what i gathered through a few google searches deford-elkhart is basically an entry level manufacturer in the world of flutes. they're generally sold as student models so unless it's got lots of dings or cracks it should be fine for learning on. as for value, maybe a few hundred, it's really impossible to say with just a text description.

your best bet to finding out it's real value and playability would be by checking with your nearest university music department or your local music store.

Thanks, mr dave,
It is in good condition, though I am sure it is not worth a whole lot. I paid $40 for it. I am going to take it down to the local full service music store today after work. Thanks again. Aeolianman
