does anyone on here play the harmonica? Ive been wantin to learn how to play it since i heard Train Train by Blackfoot and The Wizard by Black Sabbath. I also dig the harmonica player, Mickey, from Willie Nelsons band.
i know i want to get a blues harmonica, but what sort should i start out on? any particular brand that is good? ive seen em ranging from $20 to $180. and do you have any tips for me startin out thanks |

same as any other instrument it doesn't really what brand you start out with only that you actually start out.
the most common types i've seen are in the keys of C and G. get a cheap one and once you've built up some technique then splurge on the $100+ models. also i've never seen a harmonica for sale for more than about $10. what do you get for $180??? is it gold plated and diamond studded or something? hehehe |

I don't think it really matters what key you get. I have one in the key of A. The actual notes on the harmonica are pretty straight forward, its just a matter of getting the technique down which can be very tricky.

Truthfully, for a wider range, a Chromatic Harmonica is the way to go, with access to all the keys.
But I agree with the above recommendation of a Hohner.
