cool. 2 octaves isn't a bad vocal range at all. Actually that's pretty flexible. Ah yes, xxawwxsugarxx, choosing where to go after high school. I'm in my first year of university and I'm dreading the heck out of it. lol.
Do you guys think a better vocal range is one that is higher or broader or controlled? I mean, I know all factors are important, but what do you think? I don't have too high of a vocal range, it's not too bad for a guy, but I have decent control over my voice--what does that classify we as? A capable singer? lol

Control is the hardest part for me. I can control my voice but it doesn't take much to throw me off (i.e. dry throat, mild cold, allergies).

Hehe, I think it's good to be a capable singer.
My voice can reach high notes in falsetto but I'd rather it not. Every cover song we do of someone with a high voice or something, we just move down a couple of half steps. It's most important to have control. I'm not GOOD at reaching high notes, but if I can better control my falsetto, it'll be fine. |

I'll sing when I'm on my own or my girlfriend's the only one around or perhaps when I'm drunk. That's the only times I'll do "lead vocals" ..
My girlfriend says she likes my voice, but I don't really like to hear myself on recordings much and I have very little confidence in myself and singing (plus - girlfriends have to be biased anyways, so why trust her?). I'm quite able to sing, but I'm just not convinced that my voice sounds good. Other than that, I do backing vocals now and then in bands, live and on recordings .. I'm fine with not being so up-front. I've no idea what my range is. Good enough to sing along to most of the music I like.

Sweet, if you guys have any renditions of you singing, you should post a link to show us.
I've got some youtube videos, if anyone is interested in watching. I think my latest one is my best, and if you want them in the order they were published, you'll see a noticable improvement- hopefully XD haha. youtube.com/watch?v=zZyroynJ6tM
