Default Best distortion/overdrive pedals??

Hey,

So I've been pretty happy with my New Zealand made G2D classic for a while now but I'm looking around for something with a bit more drive and sustain.

What would you guys recommend as the best distortion/overdrive pedal around?

Price isnt too much of an issue as I think good tone is worth the price..

I'm not into dirty sounding cheap pedals or too muffeled distortion...

I'm after something with lots of mids..lots of sustain and round sounding..

Any suggestions would be awesome!!!!

BIG
MUFF

at least check one out. there are a few variants out there, all put out by electro harmonix. there's a regular and mini muff both made in the states and also russian models.

i've got one of the green russian ones. i dig it a lot hehe. you can definitely dial yourself in some smooth mid range fuzz that never dies with one of these.

Check out the Blackstar range of pedals, particularly the HT-Dual for versatility.

They're pure valve based boxes. Well worth a look.

Ewww a Boss MT-2? really?
Do you know what mids are?or tone?
That was my first pedal i ever owned when i was 14...and even then i didnt like it!
But im sure its great for something....

i will check out a big muff...but im not too much of a fan of fuzz...thanks

Any other suggestions?

I was thinking of something like a tube screamer?

i play with a mesa boogie single rectifier. I play through the clean channel because the drive channel is a bit too brutal for what i play.. I am looking for something to get a bit of overdrive with heaps of sustain...

Hey, I like it. & what are you trying to say about 14 year olds? I'm 15 and I got the pedal when I was 14! Lol I guess it just depends on your style. And yes, I know what mids & tone are..

"i play with a mesa boogie single rectifier"

Cool, I play with a mesa boogie dual rectifier. Personally, I love the crunch.

Good stuff!!! Yeah i love the crunch..i really love it... It just is too much for what i play! I let loose when i have it at home...So do you use the MT-2 with your dual rec? Why?
I'm just saying when I was 14 i thought i new what tone was...but now i know so much more..im 20..

And i dont like the fact that the MT-2 cuts almost alllll your mids...no matter how you dial it in...

I rekon our recitfier amps sound amazing with a overdrive pedal infront of it too give it a bit more kick!you should try it!

I did used to like the whole huge crunch extremely brutal sound untill i grew up a bit and realize what sounded nice to everyone else......

I don't use the MT-2 with the Mesa ahhahaah...I use it when an amp has horrific distortion..like at my band practice (I use the amp there.) So it works.

It does sound good. I prefer the sound straight through the amp though, at least for Mesa's & Marshalls.

I play with the crunch cos I'm in a rock/classic rock/punk band

i have a modified boss ds 1 which i bought from a friend and i'm looking to buy more effects pedals since its my only one at the moment. any recommendations would be nice. i play a squire tele custom 2 with duncan design P-90 pickups and i'm in a punk band. think million dead meets rise against. best way i can describe our sound. dunno really how else to put it. ha ha!
