a 12 string is the same as a 6 string only the standard strings are doubled with octave strings. it's not an extra 6 strings like the current trend of adding more strings to metal guitars (like the 8 string models that seem to be popping up a lot more frequently).
besides it's not like the attached pictures in this thread made it hard to see what a 12 string really is.
if i remember right BC Rich also offered a 10 string model that only doubled the top 4 strings. personally i'm not a huge fan of their pointy guitar style though.
