the gibson style 'Vs' and 'explorers' look ok (the dean z is explorer type isnt it?) and were around long before metal had been conceptualised and do not really look ridiculous in any context (maybe jazz and classical)
...but the bc rich beast, bich, warlock, Dean Dime etc look utterly ridiculous, and since most metal bands look ridiculous in the penchant for conformist cliches in terms of clothes, equipment and hairstyles, (and many modern examples also exemplify this in their music) it seems to match completely.

for someone who pulled out 'to each their own' earlier in this thread you don't seem to intent on letting things slide smoothly
funny enough the only 2 people i remember seeing using 10 string BC rich guitars were the dude from danzig and one of the guys from the P-funk. personally i really like the fact that pointy guitars are coming back in style. i work with a guy who loves BC Rich guitars and plays a mockingbird bass. they look gaudy to my eyes but i just grin and nod since it means there's one less pair of hands trying to pick up some funky jazzmaster looking thing from the wall if i decide to pick something up. and to bring this full circle. as nice as the schecter looks in that pic i'd probably still go for the danelectro. i like their unique character. the 12 string strat does nothing for me. |
