12 string electric guitars. Help? (funk, hardcore, jazz, metal, member)

Hell, my dream guitar is a Piezo ZR7/Piezo Floyd equipped RG with individual killswitchs and coil taps for each pickup, a piezo to midi system installed, (switchable so i can still access piezo tones) including a stacked bucker in the middle! And possibly even a full set of locking, transposing tuners, so I can set them up that I flip all of them, and then strings 1-5 change in tension just enough to put me into perfect dropped D without the other strings going out of tune!

Or, in other words - THE MOAR OPTIONS IN ONE GUITAR = The moar Guitarbizarre gets happy in the pants

my currently possessed custom maton ms500 has long been my favourite, 2 mastertone active humbuckers a three way switch and a super short scale neck.
Im a pedals man mainly anyway.

To get back to the 12-strings, I would highly reccomend the schecter. I was fortunate to have gotten one for 400 used last year. It was a steal, as it was in perfect condition, and it came with the B.C. Rich case. The guitar sounds like a chrous of angels on clean, but gets dirty nice. As far as soloing, its a little harder, but not impossible, and can give you some effects you can't get on a 6-string. Two things though..... the electronics will need to be replaced because they can be tempermental, and it's not a regular allen wrench to adjust the truss rod, which I don't have, so my neck is like a banana

most truss rods use truss wrenches. you can buy them from stewmac or in a pinch you can use a socket.

i wouldnt even kno where to begin to play a 12 string...Dino Cazara...or something of Divine Heresy, plays a 10 String guitar...dudes crazy

a 12 string is the same as a 6 string only the standard strings are doubled with octave strings. it's not an extra 6 strings like the current trend of adding more strings to metal guitars (like the 8 string models that seem to be popping up a lot more frequently).

besides it's not like the attached pictures in this thread made it hard to see what a 12 string really is.

if i remember right BC Rich also offered a 10 string model that only doubled the top 4 strings. personally i'm not a huge fan of their pointy guitar style though.
