Acoustic-Electric Guitar
I was thinking about getting a new acoustic-electric guitar... maybe a Luna (For the artwork and thin neck.) but, It's $550 and I'm not sure if it's really worth all that much. Has anyone ever owned or used a Luna acoustic-electric before, or maybe can you recommend a better brand?

Ive seen and played luna..to be honest they are not bad...
with some nicer strings than the ones they come with..it doesnt sound to bad.. if you are serious about guitar..they pay even more money and get a real decent one... Matons are amazing! |

Lunas aren't bad but you were spot on...not worth the money. They're very pretty and feel good but they just don't have a warm tone at all.
Personally, I suggest a Takamine. The tone is rich and thick and the electronics are much better than similar makes. They remind me of a higher-quality Ibanez and they feel great.

If you're still looking for advice on this topic... my brother has a Luna and it is sweet - mainly because of the awesome Phoenix artwork and stuff - I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.
But personally I prefer my Takamine. It may be because I'm more of a 'beginner' than an expert when it comes to guitars, but I really enjoy using it more and it was much, much cheaper than my bro's Luna. I've also heard Epiphone and Ovations are pretty alright electric-acoustics. It really comes down to how much you're willing to spend, because Lunas are more expensive and I'm also really not sure if they're worth it. You're best bet is to try a couple of the suggested brands and see which ones produce the sound you're after. Last edited by Astronomer; 11-21-2008 at 05:05 AM. |
