Default Screaming/Growling help?

Ok so when I scream should my throat be vibrating or not? Because when I scream right now, my throat doesn't vibrate and i'm not sure if thats correct and i don't want to injure my voice. Any advice?

uhm, your throat should not vibrate. You should have mostly chest resonance, for deeper growling, and a "buzzing" like feeling near the bridge of your nose, kinda close to your sinuses. Your best bet is to buy or download The Zen Of Screaming (the first one, the 2nd won't help without seeing the first one before hand.)

you do not want your pressure to come from your throat. It will wreck it, it will bleed and you will not scream for much longer than a few months.

put your hand on your lower abdomen, just below your belly button. Make a "sssssssss" sound and gradually get louder...you will have a feeling like you are pushing your abodmen into the floor. This is your diaphram. this is where the force in which your screams should come from NOT your throat, and not entirely your lungs.

NOW for the nose buzzing...say EEEENNNNN YYYYAAAAAAAAA EEEENNN YYYAAAAAA

Concetrate on holding the "N" longer and put your hand on your nose. If you are doing this right, you should feel a buzzing in your nose. This is where you want to image your sound is coming out of...I knwo impossible for it come out of there, but if you keep it up and buzzing around your nose and eyes, you will not use your throat.

Remember you will have your own sound, and should sound like you...yes you can learn your favorite artists techniques, but you will still sound like you.

Hope that helps.

Tips*** drink lots of fluids, don't eat spicy food, get the right amount of sleep....all of these things will make your voice weak.

oh yeah...note:

Your nose will not buzz when you scream....this is just to find the "imaginary" placement to where you want to send your sound...only so you use mostly your false chords and take most of the strain off of your vocal chords. If your throat starts to hurt...take a break.

Green tea with honey and milk is a good throat coat, and also a good way to take away a sore throat if it happens. Do not scream when you are sick, unless you have to.

Although this seems like a serious enquiry i reckon if you are worried about it already (&i`m guessing your youngish) then give your voice a rest dude. If your going to tear your vocal cords to shreds at least be so high you wouldn`t give a damn about posting a thread like this?

That technique of screaming is achievable without damaging your vocal chords. It needs to be done correctly.
