it sounds way more like a keyboard / synth than a guitar. not sure on the specific effect. sounds like they've got a modern synth trying to sound old for most of the tune then some vintage deal from the 80s for the higher melody that pops in and out of the tune.

the issue with a distinct melody like that is that it's usually specific to the actual keyboard / synth being used. your best bet would probably be finding a fan site with a list of the gear the band uses.
